Bob will talk with the popular Portland-based indie-fol k band SHOOK TWINS about their creative process and musical lives. Shook T wins will also perform live as a trio comprised of identical twin sisters Katelyn and Laurie Shook with longtime bandmate Niko “Slice” Daoussis.\nSh ook Twins’ music incorporates acoustic instruments including banjo\, guita r\, mandolin\, glockenspiel and their signature gold egg\, in a unique\, c ontemporary sound that has never really been confined to the indie-folk wo rld in which they’ve become well-known artists. \nJoin host Bob Santelli as we kick off another great season of American Str ings with a special evening\, outdoors\, in the Student Experience Center Plaza on the beautiful OSU main campus in Corvallis. Bob will talk with the popular Portland-based indie-folk band SHOOK TWINS about their creative process and musical lives. S hook Twins will also perform live as a trio comprised of identical twin si sters Katelyn and Laurie Shook with longtime bandmate Niko “Slice” Daoussi s.
\nShook Twins’ music in corporates acoustic instruments including banjo\, guitar\, mandolin\, gloc kenspiel and their signature gold egg\, in a unique\, contemporary sound t hat has never really been confined to the indie-folk world in which they’v e become well-known artists. Always performing with an adventurous spirit\ , the sisters are never shy to incorporate beatboxing\, banjo-head drummin g\, vocals using a repurposed telephone as a microphone\, and other ambien t sources within their music arrangements.

(Choro is an enormously appealing lively or romantic musical style that originated in Brazil over 100 years ago and is now popular inte rnationally.) In Brazil\, this group has been featured on national televis ion\, played for the president\, and played for huge audiences at national festivals. They have legions of fans and followers all over the world and when you see and hear them it will be easy to understand why.
