DJ Improper with Noah Grunzweig (Techno Contra!)

A show with dJ improper promises to blend brand new and perfectly aged into an unforgettable experience perfect for ages -3/4 and up. You can expect a blissful night of mind-bending mashups with rich electronic textures and influences from 8-bit to Zydeco.
While music is DJ improper’s passion, he is also an avid contra dancer. He has contra danced for his entire life and is the current resident DJ for the Folklore Society of Greater Washington’s “Contra Sonic” event, which features traditional American folk dancing to electronic dance music. Bring your dancing shoes because you’re not going to want to sit this one out. You can check out some videos from gigs he played for recently in Amherst, MA: Sept, 2013 and and Jan 2012.
Noah has been dancing since 1999 (and dances like it is 1999). He started calling because a summer camp asked him to teach dance to 80 high school students with zero experience dancing. That trial by fire was in the summer of 2009. Over the years, Noah has called regular community, techo, and family dances as well as weddings, birthdays, summer camps and other community events in TN, VA, KY, NC, and now the NorthWest. His love of dance and calling shows. He also teaches swing and waltz. He is currently retooling his life in the direction of more creative endeavours (any patrons of the arts?), working publications for a small company in Portland, doing copious amounts of dancing, and learning to play the fiddle.
