Corvallis Guitar Society first meeting @ Gracewinds Music Lesson Loft
Jan 5 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Corvallis Guitar SocietyThe Corvallis Guitar Society has been established to promote classical guitar and related styles in the central Willamette Valley area and is your opportunity to meet fellow guitarists as well as perform and listen to guitar music in a supportive environment. The Society is open to all ages and abilities and encourages guitarists to come out of the woodwork and play whether it is your first attempt at performing, or playing in an ensemble.  Styles of music include classical, flamenco, finger-style, solo jazz and guitar ensemble music from the Renaissance through to 20thCentury literature.
Each meeting presents playing opportunities in both an ensemble and a solo ‘open stage’ setting.
Ensemble
To play in the ensemble simply bring your guitar, footstool and, if you have one, an electronic tuner. Sheet music will be provided from very easy to early intermediate – just pull up a chair and join in! All ages and abilities are encouraged but some ability to read music is of course required. Where possible, the music will be posted on the Society website ahead of time for those wishing to select their part and practice ahead of the session.
Solo Performance ‘Open Stage’
For solo performers, sign up at the door for the open stage portion of the meeting and plan on playing your piece to a supportive audience. All levels are welcome and this is a good opportunity for people looking for their first performance experience. Duets and guitar ensembles including guitar paired with other instruments such as flute or violin are also welcome.
Or Just Listen
If you would rather just listen, that’s OK too as each meeting will include a featured artist for the last section of the session who will present a selection of pieces.
Support
The Corvallis Guitar Society has been established to serve the guitar community and attendance at meetings is free for members and membership is free! Donations will be gratefully accepted at the door and in exchange for refreshments at the mid-session break to support the administrative overheads and, importantly, to provide some funding for the featured artist.
We would like to thank Gracewinds Music for allowing use of their customer space for what we hope will be entertaining, educational and fun sessions.

Corvallis Guitar Society Meeting @ Odd Fellows Hall
Mar 2 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Corvallis Guitar Society

The goal of the Corvallis Guitar Society is to act as a catalyst to bring local guitarists out of the woodwork and provide an opportunity to perform and enjoy guitar music in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. The accent here is on participation and we hope people will want to participate in the open stage section also – no piece of music is too short or simple (though there is a five minute limit if we have a full sign-up sheet) and you are guaranteed a warm round of applause for showing us what you can do! We do have a limited number of open stage slots so be sure to sign up early at the front desk on the way in.

Our Mission

To promote classical and related guitar styles by providing a supportive performance environment for people of all ages and ability.

We seek to achieve this through a monthly meeting that provides an opportunity to discuss, listen to, and play solo guitar music including classical, flamenco, finger-style, jazz, as well as classical guitar ensemble styles.
