Portland FallSong Festival – online @ online via Zoom
Oct 24 – Oct 26 all-day

fallsong25The Fall Song Festival is Portland FolkMusic Society’s annual on-line worldwide event. It takes place this year from 1 PM, Friday October 24, through 5 PM Sunday October 26, 2025 (all times Pacific). FallSong is a place to enjoy music from many different traditions, including lots of traditional folk genres, as well as rock, jazz, showtunes – whatever people like to sing.  Along with song circles there are workshops and concerts.  There is also lots of tech support for people who are uncomfortable with Zoom or want to learn more advanced Zoom use.

The workshop and song circle program is close to full (although we can add more spaces, so it’s never really full). You can see a preliminary list of the participants leading events and the titles of their events on the website. No times yet, just a list – we’re working on the schedule.

We have about a half-dozen spaces left for 20-minute mini-concerts. You don’t need to be a superstar to give your own concert; if you think you MIGHT like to give a mini-concert, and if that means that you really DO want to give one, don’t be shy. You will never have a friendlier audience.

We still could use a few more session assistants, so if you are very comfortable with Zoom and would be willing to help out at a session – especially one you are going to attend anyway – let us know.

Go to https://portlandfolkmusic.org/FallSong for more information and free registration.  Also consider volunteering to lead a session or help provide tech support.

7:30 Chris Dopke

Fine singer doing songs from ‘the great American songbook.’ And, who knows, maybe a couple of seasonal tunes. Accompanied by Karen Sikich.

Us and Them8:30 Us and Them

Us and Them is a Celtic quartet composed of two couples who love to create musical tapestries together. With twin fiddles, guitar and bodhran, they stitch together music from Cape Breton, Scotland, Ireland, Quebec, among other interesting places. Soaring soulful melody lines slip into groovy foot tapping lines that grow to driving reels. Deep explorers of music, this band loves to be a magpie – picking delicious tunes from the Celtic world and weaving them into a dynamic new mix. David Greenberg brings in baroque violin, Cape Breton and 18th century Scottish music. Maria Blair plays fiddle, cello, and adds some Cape Breton step dancing. Marjorie Sandor rocks the DADGAD guitar, and Tracy Daugherty has condensed his full drum kit down to the portable bodhran.
